Privacy Policy
In general, we use the same privacy policy that Nature Publishing Group uses for all its nature.com websites.
However, Nature Network has some unique features, and its privacy rules are described here.
Personal profiles
When you log in to Nature Network, a basic profile will be automatically generated for you. The profile will be publicly visible and will show only your name. When you complete your profile, the following information will be publicly available (if you choose to provide this information):
- your job title and affiliation
- your location
- a photo of yourself (if you upload one)
- a description of your research, interests and projects
- a list of your publications
- your tags
- the names of the other members of your network and links to their Nature Network profiles
- the public groups you belong to
You can choose to make your email address and other contact information publicly visible on your profile. Or you can keep them completely private.
Groups
In a group profile, the description of the group and list of its members will be visible to all users.
You can also form a "Private" group on Nature Network, which will be visible and accessible to only the members of that group. Members join 'Private' groups only by invitation from the group's administrator. Nature Network administrators reserve the right to read the contents of private groups, including all discussions within those groups.
Commenting and Forums
As a default, all comments you post on Nature Network will be attributed to you and your profile. All comments posted on blogs and forums will be publicly visible. You can, however, choose to remain anonymous on any given reply in the forums.
Personal messages
Nature Network administrators reserve the right to read the contents of messages sent between individuals through Nature Network.
