1. Chemical modifications of nanoparticles (for enhancement of biomedical functions, or elimination of nanotoxicity),
2. Nanotoxicology,
3. Cancer Nanotechnology,

Projects

1. National Nanosafety Project (973 Program)—
This study investigates the biological effects and behaviors of manufactured nanomaterials in living system: Interactions of manufactured nanomaterials with biological systems: cells, DNA, and animals, etc.

2. Main Project of National Science Foundation of China—This study investigates the roles of surface coatings/modifications of carbon nanomaterials for control of their toxicological effects in vovo.

3. National Science Fund for Distingushed Young Scholars. —Nanosize Effects of Nanotoxicity. The major goal of this grant is to explore how the nanosize plays roles in determining the biological consequence of nanomaterials interacting with cells including cancer cells and cancer therapy with nanostructured particles.
