silvia pavone's profile

What I do

I’m a verinarian and I have a PhD in Perugia (Italy) in Equine Science. I work on intestine colic horses to study the changes about enteric nervous system (SNE) and Interstitial Cells of Cajal. Moreover, I studied by a retrospective histochemical study on herniated disc material in the dog the changes in intervertebral disk of chondrodystrophoid breed and non-chondrodystrofic breed. Next year I’m going to start a studing on neuroistopathological lesions related with low and high level of infestation by Anoplocephalidae and the relationship between these and the enteric syndroms observed in horses.
Normally I work on cytologic and histologic diagnosis, necroscopic diagnosis activity and processing and evaluations of cephalo-rachidian liquid.
Also I’ve started studing of neuropathology with my advisor Pr. M.T Mandara.
I’ve spent trhee months in University of School of Veterinary Medicine of Athens (GA, USA) where I’ve worked on immunohystochemistry and in situ hybridization and I’ve attended a course on “Introduction to the Toxicology Pathology of Laboratory Animals”, Pr. Richard H. Bruner and other interesting meeting.
