Saumyaditya Bose's profile

I'm male

What I do

My doctoral research involved looking into the bioreduction of hematite nanoparticles by the
dissimilatory iron reducing bacterium Shenwanella oneidensis MR-1. My present postdoctoral work involves the biogeochemical cycling of iron and uranium and the application of novel nitrate reducing microorganisms isolated in the Coates lab to the bioremediation of heavy metals and radionuclides: Specifically I’m working on the geochemical controls, mineralogy of the biogenic end products, solid state substrate transformations and mechanisms of anaerobic Fe(II) oxidation coupled to nitrate reduction at circumneutral pH.
