Rajender Sangwan's profile

I'm male and 50

What I do

I carry out research work on plant secondary metabolism in medicinal and aromatic plants since past more than 20 years. My work involves biochemistry, molecular biology and genomics of plant secondary metabolism. Besides work on aroma molecule biosynthetic pathway elucidation, I also have work and am working on metabolomics and functional genomics of Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)- one of the most reputed medicinal plant of Ayurveda and other systems of traditional medicine.Specifying plants where I have contributed ssignificantly (to my own evaluation and satisfaction) are geranium, aromatic grasses (Cymbopogon), Artemisia annua, Cathranthus roseus, ginseng, Withania somnifera, Mentha, Duboisia, Andrographis, Safed musli (Chrolophytum sp) etc. It covers the range of bioactive carbohydrates, terpenoids, withanolides, anthocyanins etc.
