Interests
During my doctoral thesis (due for submission, April 2008) I investigated the regulatory mechanisms governing striated muscle specific transcription of MS1/STARS. This has stimulated my interest in understanding and deciphering the gene regulatory networks active during the development of striated muscle and dysregulated in adult tissue. Having such an insight will help the research community devise pharmacologic and genetic therapies for inherited and acquired muscle diseases in humans. I also have an interest in telomere biology, specifically how telomere associated processes impact upon striated muscle differentiation and maturation.
