What I do
I am a Senior Scientist in the Stem Cell Technology Programme in the Drugs Discovery Unit based in the College of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. The DDU is an academic drugs discovery facility mainly focussing on neglected tropical diseases.
I am essentially a cell biologist of the Microscopic Kind – someone that loves to fiddle with my oculars in darkened rooms. Producing stuff like this:

With the greater aim of understanding how cells divide (or stop dividing and die)But that isn’t enough so I do a few of other things.. like write for Lablit.com on occasions (mainly when annoyed) – see here” and here
I was the first co-chair of the School of Life Sciences Postdoc Association @ the University of Dundee. Which was much fun. See website
Also became involved with the National Research Staff Association through this.
So yes I like to stick my nose in and get heard.
I was one of last year’s NESTA Cruciblees. More on that later. Highly recommended.
Had a year getting involved in Public Engagement- worked as a consultant for the University of Dundee in their bid for Beacon of Public Engagement Status. -
