Interests
I am a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Ron Kopito at Stanford. I study a process called ER-associated degradation (ERAD), which is an essential quality control process that recognizes and degrades terminally misfolded ER proteins. The findings that ERAD is targeted by viral proteins in the evasion of the immune system and is associated with the pathogenesis of numerous diseases, including cystic fibrosis, liver disease, diabetes, neurodegenerative disease, and many others, highlights its importance. I am interested in understanding the molecular machinery and mechanisms underlying the recognition and degradation of specific ERAD substrates.
