• Naveen Sinha's profile

    • What I do

I am currently studying the mechanics of DNA-protein interactions in Prof. Yan Jie’s laboratory at the National University of Singapore. In the fall I will start the PhD program at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Harvard.

    • Affiliations

      Current

    • Interests

So far I have explored acoustics, flow cytometry, scanning probe microscopy, anti-Brownian electrophoretic trapping, and single-molecular physical biology through various science fair projects, undergraduate research projects, and a one-year job in Singapore. Although physics is a common theme, I have yet to narrow down my interests.

Outside of lab, I love to run, cook, and explore as much of Singapore as I can before returning to the US this summer. I would eventually like to pursue a career related to science writing.

    • Projects

The focus of my current lab is understanding the mechanics of how single molecules of DNA binds to proteins. The group uses a combination of Atomic Force Microscopy, magnetic tweezers, and polymer statistical physics to understand these processes. I am exploring optical tweezers and the Tethered Particle Motion method as additional techniques towards this objective.
