Noam Harel's profile
I'm male and 36 and a Boston user

What I do
I spend most of my time as a fellow in Steve Strittmatter’s lab at Yale, working on basic (intracellular functions mediated by the Nogo protein) and translational (different rehabilitation approaches in rodent spinal cord injury) projects. About 10% of my time is devoted toward clinical duties as a general neurology attending, with special interest in spinal cord injury rehabilitation.

Interests
Science 2.0 – not just open access, not just open notebooks, but openly collaborating on devising the best research designs for addressing pressing scientific/medical problems. For more, please see my website.

Projects
Centralized Grant Proposal Repository – we need a centralized proposal repository (CPR) so that scientists can submit their research proposals in a universal format that reduces red tape and eliminates deadline crunches. Granting agencies could subscribe to the repository and peruse a larger number of applications than they would be able to solicit on their own. Details on my website and in a Correspondence in the 27 March 2008 issue of Nature.
