• Jose Manuel Otero's profile

    I'm male and 29

    • What I do

Presently, I am finishing doctoral research in metabolic engineering and systems biology of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. I am working in the group of Professor Jens Nielsen, and using succinic acid production as a case study for developing a microbial cell factory. Also, I am a research biochemical engineer of Merck Research Labs, Merck & Co., Inc., in the Department of Fermentation and Cell Culture. I spent three years with Merck, prior to starting my PhD, and the objective is to harness tools in metabolic engineering and systems biology, and apply them in pharmaceutical process development, where these tools have yet to penetrate.
