My thesis would be titled “Z4 codes, its Gray map images as Orthogonal arrays and t-designs”. Orthogonal arrays and t-designs are applicable in agriculture, genetics or medical exper-
iments, manufacturing experiments and in various aspects of coding theory, in particular
error-correcting codes. We are looking at an array whose entries are {0, 1, 2, 3}, namely
elements in Z4. There is a map with fascinating properties called the Gray map who would
take the elements in Z4 to elements in Z2. The objective of this research is to establish
various connections that occur between an orthogonal array and a t-design whose entries are
elements in Z4 and Z2 – the Gray map image. Interstingly, some of these connections also
hold for elements other than Z4 and its Gray map image.
