partha chakrabarti's profile

What I do

I’m a medical doctor by training and currently in Phd program of ‘cell and molecular biology’ at boston university. broad field of my research is diabetes/obesity and in particular study of molecular sensors of energy availability/deprivation.
Other than science, I’m interested in Philosophy of science.

Interests

1.understand the functional complexities of molecular sensors (AMPK, mTORC1,FoxO, Sirtuins etc)of energy/nutrition availability.
2. philosophy of science, especially philosophy of biology (popper, feyerabend, gould, lewontin, fox-keller, bruno latour)

Projects

1. mTORC1-dependent translational regulation of leptin biosynthesis.
2. transcriptional regulation of fat accumulation via insulin/Akt/FoxO signaling axis.
3.fatty acid signaling and its implications in diabetes.
