Interests

My current research deals with the light-matter interactions in intersubband microcavities. Owing to the low-energy and large dipolemoment, this systems are potential candidates to observe the ultrastrong regime of light-matter interaction. In this regime, the vacuum-field Rabi splitting, resulting from the optoelectronic interaction, is a significant fraction of the transition energy. Moreover intersubband microcavities offer manipulation of the optoelectronic coupling in an unprecedented modulation depth and speed. Non-adiabatic manipulation of the ultrastrong coupling is theoretically predicted to release photons from the system ground state, reminiscent of the exotic quantum electrodynamic phenomenon – dynamic Casimir effect, which is yet to be observed experimentally.
