Chromatin modifications, epigenetics and transcriptional regulation and pathogenesis of cancer in general and leukaemia in particular.
Projects
RARa gene is a gene aberrantly expressed in leukaemic cells versus normal haematopoietic cells and we are now identifying chromatin states of the RARa promoters that confer their distinct activities. Our hypothesis is that only a certain chromatin state, or states, is permissive for efficient inducibility of the RARa2 promoter by ATRA, which is required for myeloid differentiation.
