elaine axten's profile

I'm female

What I do

my background is fine art and cultural theory. i am interested in but have no real working knowledge of theoretical physics and neuroscience. i have a couple of chronic ailments which make me functionally disabled, so i have spent the past few years mainly learning meditation and being interested in how that works for healing for the mind and the body.

Interests

my interests are amateur, but interests nevertheless. the truth is sexy, and i have an armchair interest in: string theory, ::any:: theoretical physics, neuroscience, particularly where it might apply to meditation, and anything that can be explained in pictures, since that seems to be how my mind works.

Projects

having become disabled i no longer teach cultural theory nor do i practice an art form. i am also unable to do a lot of the physical stuff i used to, but i have used meditation and yoga in my recovery and feel that i am at a certain stage where i could do a book project. this will be about the contingency and convalescence. it will be very niche as i am not doing it as an academic project, nor will it be a general hand book. since “work” got me into this state (with my own terrain helping it along) i have no intention of making myself ill over it.
