Gavin Williams' profile
I'm male and 31
What I do
Currently, I’m employed as a postdoctoral research assistant at the School of Pharmacy, University of Wisconsin-Madison. I’m using directed evolution to create novel enzymes for use in the synthesis of natural product biomimetics for drug discovery.

Interests
My research interests broadly encompass the use of evolutionary methods (directed evolution) for the creation of novel enzymes. Specifically, I have successfully used directed evolution to produce promiscous glycosyltransferases for use in drug discovery. In the past, I have applied directed evolution to create novel aldolase enzymes for carbon-carbon formation reactions.
Non-academic interests include playing ‘soccer’ (I’m British, so its actually called football), comedy, and electronic music.
