- Cerebral ischemic brain injury (global and focal cerebral ischemia).
- Neuropathological mechanisms of stroke.
- Neurodegeneration and neuroprotection
- Neuroregeneration and neurorestorative strategies for stroke
- Cyclooxygenases, prostaglandins, prostanoid receptors, neuroinflammation
- Matrix metalloproteinases in neuroinflammation and cerebral ischemia
- Excitotoxicity, neuronal damage induced by oxidative stress, neuronal apoptosis
- Signal transduction pathways regulating the production of pro-inflammatory mediators (e.g., prostaglandin E2, IL-1b, TNF-a) after ischemic brain injury
- Natural antioxidant compounds and vitamins, free radical biology, antioxidant enzymes
