    • What I do

      I am a science librarian at a small, public liberal arts college in western New York.

      I teach information literacy classes in the sciences and coordinate some assessment efforts at our library.

    • Interests

      At the moment, I am interested in teaching and assessing “information literacy” among science students.

      I am also very interested in methods of scholarly communication, with an emphasis on how this is currently changing and will continue to change over the next 10 years. Nature Network is one of the interesting new developments.

      I am deeply interested in the growing open access movement, and fascinated by the new “open notebook” science. I am optimistic about a future when most scholarly publication is open access, removing barriers to education and research.

      Since my background is in geology, I also try to keep up with some developments in that field (especially paleoclimate stuff).
