Carl-Johan Rubin's profile
What I do
Genetic research focused on the identification of new candidate genes with importance to multifactorial metabolic diseases, mainly osteoporosis. The overall aim is to identify genes/genetic regions responsible for interindividual differences in human bone metabolism.
Further focus: Inferring the phenotypic effects of polymorphic microRNA-binding sites in 3-prime UTRs of human mRNAs.

Interests
Experienced in genetic linkage, QTL and association analyses. Vast knowledge in a range of microarray and PCR-based techniques aimed at quantifying mRNA and microRNA (miRNA) expression as well as DNA copy number. Two years of experience in small inhibitory RNA (siRNA) and miRNA mediated gene silencing. Additional experience in cell culture, pQCT-phenotyping, PAGE, cell transfection, phylogenetics
