Suwan Jayasinghe's profile
What I do
Dr. Jayasinghe leads the BioPhysics Group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University College London. The group’s research interests underpin, the direct bridging of the physical with the life sciences, where advanced processing methodologies to protocols are extensively explored for directly engineering living cells (from immortalised and primary to stem cells) for fabricating biologically viable constructs and/or microenvironments. In addition, his group develops novel micro- and nano-patterning methodologies for handling structural and functional materials.

Interests
Research
Developing novel processing sciences, Processing advanced structural and functional materials, Direct cell (primary, immortalised and stem cells to biomolecules) engineering, Self-assembly and Patterning (micro- and nano-fabrication)
Projects
1. Bio-electrosprays
2. Cell electrospinning
3. Aerodynamically assisted bio-jetting and threading
4. Pressure assisted cell jetting/spinning
These techniques pioneered in the BioPhysics Group are currently being developed in terms of both the associated life and physical sciences aspects.
