Projects
The aim of my research is to determine the essential function of the yeast histone acetyltransferase (HAT), ESA1. ESA1 is responsible for acetylating the tail lysine residues of histones H4 and H2A, and although important for various cellular processes, its HAT activity is probably not its essential function. Research implicating ESA1 in cell cycle progression and DNA repair have led me to hypothesize that DNA replication and/or DNA repair may be the actual essential functions.
