Casey Schneider-Mizell's profile
What I do
I study stochastic processes in various applications. My projects right now include characterizing the motility of cancer cells and studying the effect of network topologies on certain toy models of opinion formation.

Interests
I am interested in applications of stochastic processes to biophysics, ecology, epidemiology, and social science. There is a lot of work being done like this, though a great deal of it tells stories without bringing them back to the real world. As much as I love the math, I’m extremely interested in making sure that the techniques don’t supercede the modelling. Collaborating across disciplines is a great joy because of the different viewpoints and notions of what questions are interesting that arise.
Projects
1) Characterizing the motility of glioblastoma cells
2) Studying the effect of network topology on processes related to the voter model.
