    • What I do

I am currently working on a type III secretion system (TTSS)effector protein from Vibrio parahaemolyticus. This protein is proposed to be involved in actin cytoskeleton manipulation by the bacterium during infection.

    • Interests

My scientific interests range pretty widely. I did my undergraduate studies in microbiology. I studied mammalian nuclear hormone receptors (mainly the bile acid receptor, FXR) for my Ph.D thesis. Now I am into Vibrio parahaemolyticus, its type III secretion system, the actin cytoskeleton, and how those three things intersect.

I am very interested in finding creative and unusual ways one might use their scientific training to transition into more “non-traditional” careers in science-or even careers outside of science.

I am also a working mother of a one year old son. He’s my keenest interest, of course!
