Interests

Interested in Ca2+ handling mechanisms in renal glomeruli and arterioles. Most of the work in this field is done in cultured cells; I am interested in real-time recording of Ca2+ signalling in rodent and human glomeruli and arteriolar smooth muscle cells using confocal miscroscopy.

During my graduate studies, I focused around evaluating the medicinal value and pharmacology of different herbs and dietary supplements on smooth and cardiac muscles from different animal species. The idea behind such research was justificaion of use of herbs in different disorders and also to isolate potential compounds from these plants responsible for the said activities.

Projects

Real-time recording of Ca2+ handling in renal glomeruli and arterioles using confocal microscopy.

Ca2+ handling and excitation-contraction coupling in airway smooth muscle cells of murine lung slices.

Airway relaxant and Ca2+ channel blocking activity of different medicinal herbs
