What I do
I oversee the editorial content on Nature Network. That includes commissioning, writing and editing news and feature articles and keeping a blog on Nature Network Boston. I keep tabs on the Boston research community. I, along with the staff of Nature Network London, also help moderate discussion on Nature Network and work with the technical team to update and improve the website.
I’ve been in the Boston area since 2001. I first joined Nature in 2005 as the assistant editor of Naturejobs so I have a keen interest in careers and young-scientist issues. Before that, I worked for MIT’s Technology Review magazine as an editor, writing about biotech, nanotech, IT and telecom.

Interests
Reading and writing have always been passions of mine since childhood. My first job ever (other than babysitting the neighbor’s kids) was as a 15-year-old reporter, writing for the teen page of my hometown newspaper, the Ottawa Citizen. I got hooked on science and studied food science in college. Then I decided to get back into writing. I’m lucky to have a career in which I can combine my dual interests in science and writing.
Outside of work, I can sometimes be seen on the Charles River paddling in a 20-person dragon boat with the Dragon Boat Club of Boston. I also like to run, read, watch movies, and play Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit.
