What I do
Currently a Ph.D. student at the Station Biologique de Roscoff, Roscoff, France. I study the genetic and genomic factors regulating the transition between sporophyte and gametophyte phases in the life cycle of the marine brown alga, Ectocarpus siliculosus, an emerging model organism. This project will also involve an investigation of the chromatin structure, to examine whether epigenetics plays a role in the transition between life cycle phases. I am also interested in algal diversity and systematics, and hope to synthesize my knowledge in both fields with a post-doc position, following completion of my doctorate.
