Louise Gaynor's profile
I'm female
What I do
My chief role as the laboratory manager for the Clinical Motor Physiology Group is to assist
in a variety of projects concerned with mechanisms of movement
preparation and control during different types of motor tasks. Such work involves a
combination of stimulation, recording and analysis techniques. These include transcranial
magnetic stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, electroencephalography, electromyography and macro-electrode recordings from deep brain stimulating electrodes. Some of these techniques are used in combination to investigate how different circuits within the motor system interact.
In addition, I am a member of the IMN committee, which is a cross-departmental institute within UCL bringing together key researchers with a common interest in movement control. I also organise regular lab meetings for the Clinical Motor Physiology Group and am responsible for the general management of the laboratory and technical maintenance of its equipment.
