Maria Sutanto's profile
What I do
I’m a 5th-year grad student doing work in molecular metabolism. My lab interest includes examining the role of corepressors in PPARgamma function/biology and its involvement in regulating adipogenesis and adipocyte function.

Interests
Molecular biology, molecular metabolism, pathogenesis of diabetes/obesity, interface between metabolism and inflammation, Alzheimer’s Disease.
Outside of the lab,I find running and knitting very therapeutic and I love to travel. I also like to experiment in the kitchen. I love trying out new baking recipes on my “guinea pig” friends (God knows grad students and post docs can’t pass up free food).
Projects
Role of corepressors in adipogenesis and adipocyte function. However, I’m becoming more and more interested in the interface between metabolism and inflammation as exemplified in the pathogenesis of diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease. I’m also fascinated by genetics.
