James Arond-Thomas' profile
I'm male and 64
What I do
I’m a researcher/clinician, working with persons at risk for cancer recurrence, with a focus on the role of biopsychosocial signal inputs that trigger the epithelial to mesenchymal transition associated with a loss of expression of E-cadherin-related membrane proteins, an increased expression of mesenchymal keratins and integrins, and with a special focus on Merkel cell carcinoma. Additional interests are signal transduction pathways such as TGF-beta, Ras-MAPK, PI3K, Wnt, and transcription factors of the Snail family.

Interests
I have spent the last 30 years studying and treating biopsychosocial antecedents to neoplastic disease, with a specific focus on the role of the autonomic nervous system, which can function as the body’s inner “healer or slayer”, depending the frequency, pattern, and duration of its chemical discharges of neurotransmitters.
Projects
Applying a biopsychosocial model to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of neoplastic diseases.
