What I do
Nora Vyas obtained her BSc (Hons) degree in 2004 from City University, London. She was subsequently offered to do a PhD under the supervision of Professor Sophia Frangou at the Section of Neurobiology of Psychosis at the Institute of Psychiatry, London. She also works as a Assistant Psychologist for the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
Dr Vyas successfully completed her PhD in 2008 at the age of 25. Her research focused on the functional impact of genetic variation of specific susceptibility genes on cognition in schizophrenia and their family members.
Dr Vyas has recently been awarded a fellowship to present a component of her PhD work on schizophrenia at a conference in the USA. She has also been granted a scholarship to attend a Grants Institute Workshop in London.
Recently, she has been selected by the scientific panel at the Third International Conference of Schizophrenia (ICONS III) for the Award for Research in Young Mental Health Professionals.

Interests
Dr Vyas’s main research interests are neuropsychology, endophenotypes and gene expression in schizophrenia.
