I am sure that all of you know how frustrating is when a cell culture gets contaminated with some fungi or bacteria.
But always look at the bright side, not just the wasted time/effort/money. Take a look at the medium before you discard it.

In two labs I’ve worked at there was someone who kept contaminated bottles and plates. One person had a 500ml LB bottle with a big thing in it called “Fluffy” (because it was, and it filled the ENTIRE bottle). The other person had a collection of plates with interesting looking growths in it.
Cool! A blog of cartoons on the Nature Network. This is my favourite so far.
We also kept some contaminated buffer as the mascot of the lab, called it the sheep of the lab.
