• Tales from a future screen by Marco Boscolo

An attempt to draw a map of the scientific contents available on webtvs and maybe understand what a webtv is. And meeting people, discussing with them, and having fun, of course...

Today is one of those moments we can witness history. Barack Obama will officially move into his office, with great expectations. Looking at the phenomenon form the point view of this blog, it will be really interesting to see which kind of new feature american broadcast companies will put on the scree. Do you remember the hologram during the election day live coverage by CNN?

Joost, one of the most solid web-based tvs, is covering all the ceremony live here

I’d like very much if you add your considerations on the things you liked of the coverage of the event as a comment to this post.

Of course I have to be at work today, starting with a 7:30 AM meeting, but I have an IP-based television provider, and so just instructed the DVR to record the Inauguration coverage. I’m looking forward to watching it tonight, along with a special Frontline program, “Dreams of Obama”.

I’m recovering from jetlag working at home today. The inauguration is well covered here just after the kids come home from school. I know Gee Minor (aged 10), She of the Unicycling Girrafes, is very keen to see it, and as a family we’ll be marking this historic moment and enjoying the general mood of obamarama.

We have snow here in North Carolina today, another reason to wish I didn’t have to actually work — but we have classes and meetings etc. as usual.

All I can say is — I’m ready for Change!!

ugh. You would think that the American president’s inauguration would occur at a time when most Americans aren’t working so they can watch it readily. Unfortunately, I gotta catch up on it later tonight. I do hear good things about more focus on science and the environment, though…

Friends from Philadelphia told me exactly this: everybody in the offices wathed the inauguration during lunch break in their office’s kitchen, relaxing lounge. And everybody was excited. Personally I listen to the speech while driving home afterwork and stuck in the middle of a traffic jam. Only now I’m watching the ceremony on the various broadcasters’ sites. I’m excited too.
