As the the Darwin day official page remember us, in 14 days we are celebrating Charles’ 200th birthday. To be prepared (as good students!) you can read Nature’s special, but I’d like to highlight this video from Stanford. It’s from a course called “Darwin Legacy”.

This could be the title of this really nice doc from Babelgum. It’s about homosexuality in animals. Something that it’s still better not to talk about in Italy. Regarding human being… But I don’t want my words to influence your opinion of my culturally-flat country. Just enjoy the clip. And the two female octopus having sex! How is it possible? I mean: from a physical and biological point of view…

The day after, while still emotioned from the events of the celebration, a special feature on President Obama is on line for streaming on Joost or on CNN site. If you were watching yeasterday parade on the CNN online channel, you could have noticed the opportunity to log in you facebook profile and comment live via your status. It was really nice, because there were people from all over the world and not only american people commentig each moment.

Today is one of those moments we can witness history. Barack Obama will officially move into his office, with great expectations. Looking at the phenomenon form the point view of this blog, it will be really interesting to see which kind of new feature american broadcast companies will put on the scree. I’d like very much if you add your considerations on the things you liked of the coverage of the event as a comment to this post.

Italian research autumn has been really hot, with public lecture in many squares all along the country, universities occupations and other events. In my city, Bologna, on the 29th of november a large group of researchers protested against the goverment in a peculiar way. As they feel the national reserch system has been trampled, they wanted to show how they feel: they cover the main city square with over 1800 giant size pictures of researchers. It was a emotional experience. Most of the people that were just passing by stopped amazed.

I stumbled into fora.tv, a webtv “that thinks”, as the claim says. I saw this video about video, and then I started to surf the contents of fora.

If you go the their site, it’s interesting to note the peculiar way in which you can watch the contents: full programme or just highlights. I think it’s interesting and reminds me of a little dialogue about chopping a content into clips of some weeks ago.
