Got an interesting new event coming up in Second Life in a couple of weeks:
ESRC Research Seminar Series, Seminar I
Complexity and Policy: the Global Governance of New Health Technologies
Date: 26th November
Time: 9:15 – 6pm GMT / 01:15 – 10am SLT
Location: LSE and Second Life.
This is one of six seminars on the topic of Complexity Theory as a Framework for Management and Public Policy and as well as a live event at the London School of Economics, will also be broadcast live into Second Life, at Nature’s home, the Elucian Islands
There will be four sessions and a panel discussion: full programme below
9:30: Welcome and intro
09.45: Session 1: Personal Genomics and Policymaking: the practice of Complexity
11.00 Coffee
11.15 Session 2: Patently Complex? : Emerging questions on patents on biotechnological inventions
12.30 Lunch
13.30 Session 3: Predicting Complex Futures: the role of regulation in health technology foresight
14.45 Session 4: Panel Discussion on the contribution of complexity and to identify main challenges
15.30 Tea
15.45 Session 5: Exploring Topics for Joint Projects
17.15 Overview
17.30 End of seminar
All the sessions sound fascinating and there is a flier with the detailed blurb and speakers for each one.
All are very welcome to attend one or more sessions: no need to RSVP, but it would be helpful if you could let me know if you are thinking of coming to give a rough idea of numbers.
Sound great !
Please update the SLURL for :
http://slurl.com/secondlife/elucian%20islands/200/203/24
In a way, Second Nature, no more exist.
Hmm, that’s odd. I updated the SLURL to the one above – thanks, Daneel – and saved. Most definitely in the edit box it says
http://slurl.com/secondlife/elucian%20islands/200/203/24. But then when you save the post and click the link, it appears to have magically reverted to Second Nature again. It’s not even redirecting – it looks that way when you hover over the link. I will investigate.
And to investigate, I will put a test link in here: “SLURL”:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/elucian%20islands/200/203/24.
I tried the ‘the Elucian Islands’ link above and it showed an error message. Copying and pasting the slurl in the browser took me to the right landmark though.
Yep, some bug with Nature Network apparently – the SLURL keeps reverting. They’re looking into it, will report back when it’s fixed.
