And, almost as importantly as the last post, can anyone identify this dog for me?

I saw him in the paper and would like to know his breed so that when I get the big farmhouse in the country, I can get one…

Might be a wire fox terrier.
Thanks Kristi – certainly looks pretty similar. I’ve had a look at the information, though, and apparently that breed needs “a lot” of exercise… Not sure about that – might have to re-consider and look for a dog with really, really short legs that likes exercise even less than I do. Anyway, will remember his name – thanks!
I believe that TinTin’s “Snowy” was meant to be a wire fox terrier. As with most terriers, they are quite active – even the short-legged types, such as Jack Russell terriers, require a lot of exercise. A farmhouse in the country would be a perfect place for such dogs!
Wire haired terriers are cute. Jack Russells can be too, though sometimes they can be a bit mad/yappy.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure also that’s a Wire Haired Fox Terrier. Terriers are great dogs: a neighbour of mine has a beautiful Airedale; I know Tibetan’s well; and I’ve spied the Soft-coated Wheaten for my ‘big farmhouse in the country’. They’re great characters, and lively. However, occasional individuals of certain breeds can be aggressive. The scar in the palm of my right hand reminds me that I’ve long since replaced ‘cute’ with other adjectives for Jack Russells. There are, of course, plenty of more sedentary alternatives.
The best dog I ever had was a Jack Russell terrier. She watched Otis and Milo every Sunday for the entire hour.
But yes, terriers in general are active dogs that need a lot of outdoors time – better for living out in the country than in an apartment while you are at work for eight hours.
Looks more like a Lakeland Terrier than a Fox Terrier to me. Pictures of both can be found here http://allbreedsrescue.googlepages.com/homeless-dogs
