A look at space exploration, the search for life beyond Earth, extreme life forms, and the daily musings of a graduate student in London.

    • Tea and Sympathy, minus the sympathy

Simple pleasures of the first 24 hours of a trip home to beautiful Colorado:

      • Being able to walk from one room to another and still be in your own residence – almost unheard-of in London.
      • The smell of pine trees post-rain storm.
      • Driving and being able to turn onto the road you actually want to turn on.
      • Country music.
      • Having a pot of the Coconut Pouchong tea at the serene Tea Spot in Boulder.
      • Seeing mountains.
      • Having a cup of iced tea at the Pekoe Sip House. (It’s true: I’m a tea fanatic, and sorry England, but you’ve got nothing on Boulder).
      • Eating a Chipotle burrito. (Is it bad that all of these involve food and drink?)
      • Overhearing no fewer than 6 people go on Sarah Palin tirades (granted, I am in Boulder).

That’s all for now – have a glorious weekend.

Sorry Jeff, but I feel it’s my duty to alert the authorities to this blog post and you are unlikely to get back into the country. It was nice knowing you…!

Agreed that England is getting more and more rubbish re cups of tea. Where can you get a cup of tea that isn’t a wretched tea bag, outside your own home? I think that any establishment that has the gall to charge more than £1 for a cup of tea is reciprocally spaced obliged to provide leaves, man, leaves.

Or we shall all emigrate to Colorado.

Exactly Maxine. It’s either PG tips or 85 pounds at the Ritz…

Yes, quite, I paid about £5 for a small bottle of juice a the Nat Hist Museum recently – as I have learnt by experience never to ask for tea in a cafe or restaurant, as what you get is, er, PG Tips teabag or worse (generic supermarket teabag). But what a price! Next time I’ll be looking for a water fountain. Or just quietly dehydrate in the corner.
