I’m in my office trying to work, only I have a really bad migraine. The “aura” is so bad I can hardly see moy keyboard, let alone the monitor screen.
NOt fun trying to work on this richard grant when I can’t think clearly, can’t see clearly and keep feelin like I’m about to either pass out or vomit.
Hmmm..and it’s not like I can drive home and lie down either…sugestions welcome…
Sorry you aren’t feeling well, Ian. Is there someplace dark and quiet where you can lie down for awhile? Many of our restrooms (at least the women’s) have a a sort of “foyer”, with a couch, outside the area with the stalls. On a weekend, there shouldn’t be much traffic in the university restrooms … maybe you can lie down with the lights off?
Alternatively, what about one of those small study/meeting rooms in the university library? They’re usually quiet, and you could push chairs together to lie down. I see students and residents napping in those all the time, sometimes in their scrubs.
Cheers Kristi. I hate to be a hero, but I’m just trying to force through. The deadline for my grant is Tuesday, and Monday is Federal holiday here in the states. I’m going to get yelled at BIG STYLE by our office of research for leaving everything to the last minute. As usual I forgot about the holiday… so, I HAVE to (and want to) get all the paperwork submitted tonight or tomorrow morning so it’s waiting in someone’s inbox for first thing Tuesday morning….. :/
I don’t know about migraines, but blogging is probably not conductive. Step away from unnecessary things! Don’t read this!
It might sound funny, but have you tried medication against menstrual pain? I occasionally have a migraine as well and painkillers don’t help, but some of the stuff they suggest to relieve cramps does. This stuff eg is pretty effective. It doesn’t really remove the migraine, but it moves it enough in the background for me to remain funcional. Other than that, I can only recommend (as Kristi said), a dark and quiet room, fresh air (preferably cold), make some relaxation exercises, try to get a massage.
Supine, in the dark
Winter: flower of the snow
The best medicine.
cheers. Wasting an hour uploading photos into Facebook seems to have helped too… now i just have a headache…
Hope the morning has brought some respite for you Ian.
