Hermione the chicken has just laid an egg, and has decided to tell the entire neighbourhood all about it. Mrs Gee has just sent me outside to inform her (Hermione, that is) that one really doesn’t make that kind of racket at 9 a.m. on a Sunday.
Meanwhile, over on Twitter™, NN’s own Eric Michael Johnson is live-tweeting the birth of his baby. Mrs Eric Michael Johnson, for it is she, has been in labour for 36 hours and is having an emergency C-section even as I write this, on my iPhone, naturally. (that is to say, I’m writing on my iPhone – Mrs EMJ is having a section somewhere else, even iPhones have their limitations. I don’t think there’s an iObGyn app yet. Do try to keep up.)
You can follow the drama by following @ericmjohnson and I’m sure all those who knowe him send three hearty mazel tovs.
I think Eric’s twitter name is @ericmjohnson – obviously he doesn’t take his name seriously, so he decided to take the michael.
And pass my congratulations to Hermione too. I’m sure she’s producing some cracking offspring.
Thanks Bob – I corrected EMJ’s twittername. I shall pass your congrats on to Hermione, though most of the chickens seem to produce eggs without making such a fuss about it. And they are, as you say, cracking.

So hopefully it’s nothing very serious.
The latest news is that mother and son are doing fine. Phew!
How exciting! My congrats to Eric and his family.
FYE: a post on iBirth
Wow! Thanks Henry and everybody for your support and enthusiasm. It means a tremendous lot to both of us. It’s been an amazing, terrifying, exhausting, exhilarating and edifying experience. Erin is doing amazingly well, especially after a procedure that can only be compared to live organ transplants.
Baby Sagan is nursing as I write this. There were some scary moments, especially when his heart rate approached 190 (and when I was asked to sign a “in the event of death” form after being awake for 41 consecutive hours) but I am grateful that the end result was the best of all possible outcomes: a healthy son and partner. I’m still wrapping my head around this whole “life changing experience” thing that the interweb claims fatherhood brings with it. Perhaps I’ll deal with that part after I catch a little more shut eye. Much love from the family across the pond.
Well done, EMJ and Family. Your tweets were awaited anxiously over here. Just after Sagan was born but Erin had complications … that’s when I had to take the dog for a walk. I stopped every few hundred yards to check twitter. This annoyed the hell out of the dog.
