    It's a blog. I don't really know what it's about either.

    • Toronto Discovery District and some UofT buildings

Here’s my map for Matt’s challenge

Some of the buildings are rotated so you can see their front or just the most interesting angle. The map is upside down (North is down, South is up) because I tend to think of the area that way and so I could draw the front of MaRS without having to rotate it on the map and so I could draw the funny-looking ROM at the front and have a dinosaur wonder about the modern architecture that now houses his bones. (There may or may not be an actual dinosaur.)

I had to tilt and squish SickKids a bit so that it could still have its overpass over Elizabeth street. That bridge leads to the tiny crappy building where my lab used to be before we moved to MaRS.

My actual department at UofT is a 10 minute walk away (2 minutes spent in elevators and 2 minutes spent on waiting for lights at the College and University intersection. You can technically bypass the lights by walking through the subway station just below it (not shown, but this map covers four subway stops), but we’re always just glad to be outside!)

Notice that there is almost nothing residential around here. It’s all hospitals and university buildings, and some offices. Food courts close at night, too.

Click the map to see it HUGE.

(Erratum! There’s a mistake on the map. I mixed up a street name. Howland = Hoskin. Howland exists, but not in that part of town.)

Thanks Henry. I rather liked yours, with all the animals in it.

I decided from the start to duck out of this map challenge, on account of extreme artistic ineptitude. This map fully vindicates my decision.

Wow, Eva, you’re so going to win the prize, unless someone can do better.

Thanks everyone! I didn’t even finish it (see the parts where I just drew a box for the Banting/Best institutes, and wrote “Restaurants!” for the group of restaurants on Baldwin Street.

That’s a pretty amazing map. I would have contributed to the contest, were it not for the fact that I can’t draw to save my life. I am so glad I didn’t try! Awesome disclaimer, by the way. Great job!

This makes me miss Toronto! I like the protesters and movie trucks.
