Week’s best quote (with the month’s best subordinate clause in bold):

Now that you can see the wrinkles on my face in Google Earth images, a person asking me for my student ID must be making the assumption that it is more likely that I am a non-traditional student than a professor. That is disheartening because it means that even people in their 20’s working on a university campus think it more likely that a woman in her 40’s is a student rather than a professor.

I’m struggling with simple tasks. Not quite depressed, but up till today, under the weather a wee bit. A presentation for local delivery tomorrow morning is my most current deadline, which leads me to find these delightful links in my feed reader.

I was wondering how one could use a search engine efficiently to authenticate a quote. Somehow, the other night when I was re-watching Annie Hall instead of continuing to unpack videocassettes, I must have come across that Douglas Adams quote about deadlines. And was convinced for a while tonight that it was from a Woody Allen monologue. So, which variant is it, really? Deadlines as they fly by, as they fly past, as they go by?

In any case, if one just keeps one’s head down, deadlines won’t take it off as they buzz past, and they always do sooner or later.
