Most of us feel lucky to have all the equipment in our lab functioning at the same time. So imagine how happy you’d be to get a brand new, two-floor $100,000 lab!
Well, that’s what students at Salem High School in Salem, MA are getting. Soon to open is a brand spanking new aquaculture and hydroponics lab. Included in the bill are solar algae tanks, touch tanks, experiment tables, saltwater tanks, nursery and infirmary tanks, and a built-in biofiltration between the plants on the hydroponics floor and the aquaculture and sea critters beneath.
The nice digs are set to open May 1st, and are all thanks to a grant from the Norman H. Read Charitable Trust.
All I can say is I am so jealous of these kids! I think its great to get student at a younger age more and more involved in science.
Oooh! Seething with envy!!! We had collapsing ceiling tiles, toxic black mould, leaking pipes (gas & water), no heat, no A/C and a leak in the roof right over my $75000 electrophys rig. And we’re supposed to be the grown-ups!!
