The New 7 Wonders campaign, following on the success of the campaign for the New 7 Wonders of the World, which got over 100 million votes globally in 2007 to decide a current ‘7 Wonders of the World’, have decided host a vote for the 7 Wonders of the Natural World.
The campaign hopes to call attention to the “beauty of the world’s heritage, both man-made and natural” to draw attention to its destruction and decay. Their goal is to raise awareness and funding to protect and preserve these important icons of our world.
If you browse the entries, there are a lot of really interesting, stunning natural places that at least I had never heard of. I’ll probably spend a few hours simply finding new places to put on my “to see before I die” list from the entries. I’m amazed by all the natural wonders that I simply didn’t know about. I don’t know much about the campaign or voting, but I can say the photos and nominees are stunning to flip through.
Voting is open now, if you’re interested, to narrow the 261 nominees like the Grand Canyon and the Niagara Falls down to a toplist of 21, which will eventually be narrowed to the seven greatest wonders of our natural world.
This is great! Thanks for the links.
Thanks for the link.
I would still recommend the North of Sweden (or norway) since the water there is still ok to drink, the mountains untouched and the air is quiet… and yes, I’d be partial and very non objective about it ;)
