I found this little site called GenderAnalyzer that claims it can guess the sex of a blog’s author based on the content. So I figure, what the heck, let’s try out my two blogs (this one and Observations of a Nerd). After all, I’m somewhat girly – I assumed the answer would be obvious.

Me, apparently.
Yeah – NO. Observations got calculated at 74% male (which, for the record, I can understand – ‘Sex’ and ‘Nerd’ are some of my biggest tags). And even this lovely, conservation-oriented blog scored 57% male. I thought for sure the whole dolphin-hugging bit would get me a girl vote. But alas, I’m apparently androgynous at best.
Moreover, from what I can tell, just about any blog that is ‘science’ or ‘techy’ in nature is assumed to be male – c’mon now, what gives?! It’s not like all scientists are men! That’s a little rude, don’t you think?
Of course, I could just be a tomboy at heart.
I don’t think it’s just about science – my personal blog scored as 78% male, and my NN “only” as 68% male despite having much more science content. I talk about sport a lot on the other blog (but also cute kitties), so maybe that’s why?
I notice that the “did this tool guess correctly” poll is running at 55% yes, 45% no. So, little better than guessing really.
