Scientists have been using bacteria to do many things. I have mentioned in previous posts about bacteria’s misfortunes in being spun into fiber or fiberized inside. Now scientists feed the bacteria with poisonous Cd, letting them puke, and yield nano CdS crystals (quantum dots) (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2008. DOI: 10.1002/anie.200705806).
