Interests
I head up the great opinions sections team — books & arts, essays, commentaries, correspondence and the podcast. Before that I ran the fantastic team behind this exciting website and set up Macmillan’s critically acclaimed popular science books list. I also teach science writing, having spent a decade as a science journalist and editor, latterly as Nature’s online daily news editor. Whatever gets more people talking about more scientific ideas, I’m interested! When I’m not at work I’m reading Wired, Seed or the LRB, cooking, art-going, doing yoga or hiking.
