How did you mention your science-related blog on your CV/resume?
I am trying to finish up my CV in the next week for applying to postdocs and have decided am pretty sure I will include the link to my NN blog in one of the sections.
The two examples I have seen in the CVs of friends are as follows:
Under the “Special Talents” section
Active science blogger at: http://network.nature.com/people/XXXXXXX
Under the “Awards and Affiliations” section
Nature Network member (http://network.nature.com/people/XXXXXX)
All suggestions and other examples welcome!!!
I put it under “Misc,” together with memberships.
I have mine in the “header” section with my email address, phone number etc.
“Other science communication experience”, but that was for a job where such things were highly relevant, which will not always be the case.
Thanks for the suggestions so far!
Did you just list the blog link or did you give it a descriptor?
Might be worth considering that, if you’re going for a laboratory postdoc position, it may land in the inbox of a certain species of PI that considers such activity a distraction from data mining on their behalf. Could list under ‘Other Interests/Hobbies’, or some such. Just a thought.
@Lee: That is always a concern. It is actually being debated on NN currently here
I’ve made the decision (for now) to include it with my CV since I think it would be stranger to not mention it, be googled by my prospective employer, and they find that I do have a blog (its the first hit when you google my name)
Elizabeth, thanks for the pointer to the forum, which I hadn’t picked up on.
(Bloody Google – scary.)
