G’day!
I’m Linda and I’m new to Nature Network Blogging.
I’ll be posting from Australia, a.k.a Oz.
I actually hail from Vancouver, Canada, but ventured Down Under for a change of climate and a Masters of Research at ANU’s BaMBi. (Not the Disney movie, the School of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. btw, the School of Botany & Zoology is called BoZo, and it’s renown for Kangaroo Genomics. I can’t make this stuff up ;) )
My interests revolve around what I do at the lab, my research and investigations on the Aussie way of life, including lingo, dietary habits, and natural habitats. Also be prepared to see a lot of references to plant biology, microRNAs (miRNAs), RNA regulation and RNAi (RNA interference, the gene silencing technique of the present and future, and natural regulatory process).
Last but not least, many thanks to Matt Brown (Nature Network Editor) for making blogging under this affiliation possible.
Cheers!
Linda
Welcome to the club! Don’t worry about the more, ahem, odd people here – most of the time they’re harmless.
G’day Linda! Welcome to Nature Network. Matt’s a good sport, I agree. There are one or two Vancouverites these parts, should you feel nostalgic.
Harmless? What can you mean, Bob? ;-)
Yeah, they are mostly harmless around here. Welcome anyway, hope the weather’s better down under than here in England. I was in Vancouver for 3 years as a postdoc and am still trying to get used to being back in the UK.
Welcome Linda! I am one of the aforementioned Vancouverites (Maxine’s link isn’t working), although I’m originally from the UK.
Comment on Friday by a colleague from a very hot country: “Yeah, sure, Vancouver’s wet, but it’s a dry wet”.
Sorry about the link, Cath and Linda – it was supposed to be to your blog, Cath.
Welcome! :)
Welcome, Linda! And good timing, as our only other Oz blogger will soon be returning to the UK.
whoa, thank you everyone for the welcomes and blog links! :D
Hi Linda
Hmmm, wanna swap? I moved to Vancouver from Australia (Sydney) 2 years ago. Great place to live and work (and ski) but the grey skies and slush are starting to do my head in. I miss the beach!
