I know several NNers are attending ScienceOnline ‘09 in NC at the moment, the reports of which inspired me to start assembling some of my supplies for Cromer Is So Bracing ’09 activities. I would have liked to attend ScienceOnline also, but as director for a short neuroscience course for dental students in January, I can’t go anywhere during that month. So I’m really looking forward to my trip to England in February, and meeting some NNers at CISB. I just finished knitting a very warm Icelandic wool sweater (which I’m sure I’ll need for our outings at Cromer), so I’ve got some time to get ready for a crochet workshop.

Hmmmm, the dog yarn section of the craft store threw up on my bed this morning
These are the bits and bobs of yarn I’ve collected, from various projects and yarn sales (which I can’t resist, apparently), to construct crocheted marine invertebrates with Gees Minor and Minima. There’s a half-finished nudibranch in the pile of fibers. The aluminum crochet hooks, at the bottom of the photo, were inherited from my grandmother. I haven’t yet packed the beads to decorate our fiber invertebrates, but rest assured, I won’t forget!
Note: As the lighting would indicate, it’s very sunny in South Texas this morning. High temperatures this afternoon expected to be in the low 70s (F), so I plan to be outdoors with the hominids and equids.
This looks great, Kristi – we’re all looking forward to learning how to crochet. Karen James and Martin Fenner are coming and we’re hatching plans which I shall reveal for discussion when I get home from NC.
Horses and humans alike got plenty of exercise this afternoon. And to go along with the perfect weather, I listened to the Obama Inaugural Celebration Concert on my truck radio:
There have been times that I thought
I couldn’t last for long
But now I think I’m able to carry on
It’s been a long time, but I know
A change is gonna come, oh yes it will
~ “Change is Gonna Come”, Sam Cooke
It’s almost too good to be true. Cripes, it’s been a long eight years ….
Plans hatching here…
