Friday is when the Web of Science updates its citation index. Because of this I have decided to check out my up to date personal citation metrics. The top 3 remain unchanged althogh number 4 is moving upwards steadily having climber 2 places last year. There has been a surprising climb of a sleeping topic, with papers on self-propagating high temperature synthesis showing recent citations, although not enough to influence the dreaded h-factor. Inkjet is climbing steadily, especially since a recent post-doc of mine, now in a permanent post elsewhere, is publishing lots on his own and uses his (and my) previous papers in his introductions. There is a disturbing (and long term) continuation of citations in two papers that did not do anything significant (in my opinion) but appear to have entered a list that people use in standard introductions (and I expect are never read but just repeat cited).
Now to plot my selective self-citation strategy to boost my h-factor…
